Perceptions of corruption by Belarusian small and medium businesses


The paper deals with different definitions of corruption, traditional methods of assessment in the context of international comparisons showing the effect on economic development and describes some of the best anti-corruption practices. Most of the work is devoted to the analysis of the survey results of private small and medium enterprises in Belarus on the corruption perception conducted by the Research Center in May 2014 provides general estimates of the prevalence of corruption, their sectoral and regional differences. The relationship between the perception of corruption and the dynamics of the economic situation of small and medium-sized businesses. Particular attention is paid to the causes and areas of corruption, as well as analysis of its changes and possible countermeasures. The work contains an appendix with the distribution of responses to the questionnaire on the perception of corruption Belarusian small and medium-sized businesses.
