Belarus’ export activities indicators in 1998-2016: what are the chances for growth?

 
They study aimed to analyze the indicators characterizing Belarus’s export activity in 1998-2016 to determine how the structure and complexity of the national export basket, its competitive advantages, extent of foreign market penetration and involvement in global value chains altered during the period.
 
The study revealed that based on its existing export basket Belarus’s capacity to increase its exports is rather limited. The status quo cannot be amended without changing the technological structure and enhancing the export basket’s efficiency/profitability, as well as getting involved in global value chains and building up domestic output’s competitiveness.  Doing so will improve the “survival” capacity of Belarusian exports in already available markets and, likewise, lay ground for new competitive advantages and penetration of new markets.
