“Belarus in a Low Growth Trap: Nesting or Escaping” Seminar completed its work
On June 30, 2017, IPM Research Center jointly with the Economy Research Institute of the Ministry of Economy of Belarus held the Seminar “B“Belarus in a Low Growth Trap: Nesting or Escaping” Seminar completed its work”. The event took place within the framework of KEF and with the assistance of the European Union.
“The EU supports the Kastryčnicki Economic Forum as one of the important and useful platforms in Belarus. Creating market opportunities for business development is one of the EU priorities in Eastern Part-nership countries. The EU is interested in investors coming to Belarus, but in order to ensure that it is necessary to look at the situation with the eyes of foreign investors willing to invest in Belarus’s economy” – stated Andrea Wiktorin, Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus, in her opening speech.
At the seminar, IPM Research Center presented its macroeconomic forecast and the results of several studies (Belarus’s place in global value chains, changing the position of vulnerable groups during recession, perception of the economic situation and the institutional environment in Belarus by SME).
The Economy Research Institute of the national Ministry of Economy presented the basic provisions of the draft regional development strategy for Belarus.
The final session of the seminar included a discussion of social and economic policy provisions targeting escape from the slow growth trap with the representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank of Belarus.
